Hey, what’s going on everybody. My name is Jacob bates, and in this video, we are going to be talking about combining niches. So, I don’t think enough people think about the ways they can go about combining niches, and changing things around, and creating new types of books.

I think everyone’s stuck in this loophole. Okay, this person is doing well with this type of book, so I’m going to go create that type of book. They don’t create enough of their own opportunities. They don’t create enough of their own niches. They don’t take any data. They don’t take any you know statistic or search volume, or BSR history into account when they start combining niches, or when they’re just doing research.

In general, I think everybody’s stuck in this loophole. I must do what other people are doing. So, I can make money and they’re kind of thinking about this in the wrong direction. Okay, your kind of thinking about this and you know the wrong way.

Sure, can you look at other niches, and you know see where there’s an opportunity, see where there’s very low competition. Compared to you know a BSR that shows or indicates a lot of sales. Yes, but I don’t think people create enough of their own opportunities. I don’t think people are being unique enough. I just don’t see it. Everyone says I want to create what others are creating because they’re doing well. Sure, you can do that, but create your own opportunity.

So, I’m over here on amazon and I want to kind of show you what I mean by this. Okay, I went over this example and a webinar the other day live. I want to talk about this a little bit in more depth because I think this is a topic that everyone struggles with that. You know that I feel everyone should know. So, what we’re going to do here is? We’re going to talk about coloring books for a moment. Okay, so if we just look at coloring books. Here you can see there are a lot of results, amazon showing 40,000 results for coloring books for kids.

Now, I think that might be just a little bit low. Okay, I think that’s going to be a little low, but nonetheless 40,000 coloring books. If you’re trying to rank for coloring books for kids, that’s going to be a keyword. That you’re going to have to spend a lot of money to get right herewith. You can see this book was published on December 31st, 2020. So, seven days ago now and it’s no rank found, so this is a sponsored product.

Okay, we’ll be touching on sponsored products ads here and a video very soon, but they have no rank. This book is not sold, and I guarantee you that they are paying a hefty price per click to be right here on such a large keyword. I mean you are competing with over 40,000 people and as I said, I think that might be a little bit low.

So, if you went ahead and niched this down. Okay, you go ahead and itch this down. Don’t look at unicorns. Don’t look at dinosaurs. Everyone is doing those same things with a mermaid, that’s what everyone is doing. If we look at for example unicorn or dinosaur coloring book for kids. They’re still going to be an insane amount of people you’re competing with.

So, if we just go ahead and scroll down. Here let’s go to page three, to see if we can get amazon? To go ahead and load up all those results. So, page three and let’s see. Okay, over 50,000 results here for just unicorn coloring books for kids.

Okay, and if we scroll down through here unicorn. So, as we scroll down through here, yes most of these are actual books, that you are competing against. If I had to take a rough guess, here probably at least 40,000/30,000 books are relevant to unicorn coloring books for kids.

Same thing for dinosaurs. Okay, if we look at the dinosaur book, here over 3,000 results. If we go ahead and scroll way on down here, go to page three, and try to see. If amazon will give us the full list of results, or the total number of results, that number, then jumps to 20,000.

And as we scroll down through here coloring book, so you can see that. Okay, yes most of these are also probably going to be in direct competition, probably half of them. Here um, you know something like these isn’t. You aren’t competing against per se, but you are going to have to rank against them. They’re running sponsored products. So, you’re not ranking directly against them. You’re competing against their ad. But then you have things like this here this is not a sponsored product.

So, while you’re not directly competing against them. To make a sale you are competing against them in the search results because they are ranking for this. So, you could say, you know 10,000/15,000 of these results are people you’re truly going to be competing against. But if we take this down to something smaller. Okay, sloths have been extremely popular for quite some time. Now, um and we look at 581 results. 581 results for sloth coloring books for kids.

But like everything else, I want to go to the third page here, and make sure that you know is that number true? That number will probably go up. if I had to guess maybe two thousand or three thousand in total. Okay, over four thousand results in total, that is many books to compete against.

But as we start scrolling down through here. How many of these are sloths? Okay, helicopter coloring book not relevant, unicorn coloring book not relevant, Christmas spirit book not relevant.

We can come on down through here. Okay, so here’s one it’s not selling well, but it has sold. So, something like this, it’s like. Okay, these books are already on page three not relevant for what we are looking for. Okay, not relevant for what we’re looking for. So, sure maybe a thousand of these books we’re competing in, maybe a little bit more, maybe a little bit less. It’s hard to say without going through more and more pages, to try to get a better indicator. But what if we take sloths that we know are insanely popular.

Okay, if we go back to page one here. If we go back to page one here, and we look there are going to be books that have sold well or are selling well. So, you can see it. Uh, right here sloth coloring book. Funny sloth coloring book for kids 219,000 and that’s a BSR as of now.

If we look at the BSR over the last 30 days amid q4. We can see from November until about Christmas time. You can see this BSR hit as low as 64,000 it’s appearing.

So, this book has been selling well and obviously. As you know we move away from the holiday season from Christmas Hanukkah any other holidays you may celebrate. You can see that BSR does start to climb. But it’s still staying relatively over the last few days a hundred thousand. You can see it jump to three hundred thousand, hundred and seventy-nine thousand, uh 567. So, this book is selling, it sold well um at Christmas holidays as well.

If we look at this one, its BSR is currently a little bit higher, and you can see in December it hit as low as 105,000.

So, again this isn’t going to be you know a book that’s making you hundreds or thousands of dollars a month. But it can turn into a successful book, that’s working you know week after week, month after month, you know you could count on it. But you’re still competing against a thousand people, 2,000 people whatever it might be. We saw that they said there is a total of you know it showed over 4,000 results. So, with, sure 4,000 people. If you took it at face value, that is a lot. We know that’s not true because there are books down through here that are not sloths.

Okay, the fascinating animal book for kids 500 over 504 kids, 500 wild facts. Okay, that book is not relevant to what we’re selling. Is it selling well? Yes. Are we going to be competing against it? Yes. But if someone is looking for a sloth coloring book, they are not going to probably end up buying this book here per se.

Okay, how do we take this and combine it into something new? Well, there are all types, all kinds of types of books that you can make. It doesn’t have to stay with coloring books. Think of other activity book types. Another activity book type that we know that does well, dot to dot books. So, let’s change out coloring books for dot to dot books for kids. Okay, so we can see 638, and if we take this and we go to page three, we’ll see what comes back here, if my computer would load properly. Here we go, so we can see staying true 635 results.

So, you just watch this go from over 50,000 results from the start. We niched it down to unicorn, just to kind of show you what’s happening. Their unicorn had over 40,000 results. Down to dinosaur which said 20,000 results. Down to sloth which is still as popular, still is popular, not as popular as dinosaurs or unicorns obviously. But when you look at the results, there are less than 4,000 results. We saw some that are selling consistently. Let’s combine that with another type of book. So, when we combine it with another type of book, it is yes true 638 results.

How many of these are sloth dot to dot books. So, if we scroll down through here, well I haven’t seen one yet. Sure, there’s some with sloths on the covers dot to dot books for kids. But oh, here’s one sloth dot to dot book. If we look at this cover, okay, and if this is your book, I am sorry, but I’m going to critique it.

If we look at this cover here versus this color cover here, they look nothing like what has proven to sell. Okay, nothing like it, you do not need to go out and copy this book. You do not need to go out and try to mimic this book. But you can learn from it. Okay, you can learn from this book here because it has .

Okay, I’m going to get me a nice big sloth here with um you know a big font. I’m going to use um you know colors. I’m going to put color pencils. I’m to put and dot to dot on here. I’m going to put a banner across the top that is yellow, and you know put a badge on here that says for kids no, but you can tell this cover is a lot more vibrant.

Okay, this is a very 2d cover, no make a 3d cover. Make a cover that has you know the depth to it. Make a cover that stands out that has you know bright colors. But don’t go and copy this, these are two totally different styles. This is more of a pattern style a very 2d, you know just a very plain cover compared to this one.

This one here again it might be plain, it might be 2d, but there are at least some eye-popping colors, and they also go ahead and give you some samples of what to expect. Inside one’s colored one is not it gives the customer a good idea of what to expect inside.

Remember mobile apps do not get the look inside feature. So, something like this on a book that really matters coloring books, activity books, certain planners, and organizers. It’s not a bad idea to put samples of the pages on the cover or back cover. Depending on how you’re designing it and the elements you’re using within your designs. If they flow properly use them because customers want to know what they are getting. They can’t see the look inside on the app, which has you know hundreds of thousands, millions of customers that use it every single month. So, take that into consideration when you’re making your book.

So, just like that, we went from over 50,000 results down to a niche that has 638 results in this niche, and you can scroll down through here, and see you have no one you’re truly competing against. You could even add in some other things. Make an activity book do more than just dot to dots. You could include mazes, you can include word searches, you could include I spy, you could include things like how many are there or spot the differences.

Okay, things that stimulate the mind. Things that can turn it into an activity book rather than just a dot to dot book. This was just an example for you. So, this is how you can combine niches. If you find something that’s working in one type of book look at the other type of books. You can make it within that niche this is something more of you need to focus on. Be unique and be someone who newly creates something new for the market and test it.

Okay, if you know sloths are popular, if you know an animal is popular, if you know careers are popular if you know even a certain type of interior is popular, go ahead and see how you can make that fit for different types of people. How you can make that fit for the different categories, for different niches, for different demographics. You’re going to be able to twist and pull these things in different directions when you start thinking like this.
